Mainly
researching the DOYLES from Ireland, GRIFFITH / HALLIDAYS from
Wales
and
Somersetshire, the INGLIS' from Scotland, the MOORE family of
England, the BARTON / STEDMANS
from York, Edinburgh
and Kinross and their subsequent arrival in
Australia.
How
loved how valued once avail thee not
To
whom related or by whom forgot
A
heap of clay is all remaining of thee
Its
all thou art and all the proud shall be
From
the headstone of James Doyle d 1836
From
musty old boxes, files and records dating back over 250 years, that have
been collected by my ancestors - all of them thinking that one day they
would do something with them, and never doing so - I have been trying to
piece together my family history but I'm not sure that this project will
ever be finished as I keep on discovering new branches to my tree. So
far there are
over 11,000 names
in the various family branches, and the
tree is still growing.
There
is murder and mayhem in these pages - with one old timer being strangled
and burnt in the castle furnace and several have been executed.
There are a couple of Lord Mayors of London, a polite smattering of
knighted
gentlemen, castles and convicts. I've tried to keep the
information contained on
the my pages as factual as possible without getting too long winded and
too bogged down with minute details.
